JUAN CARLOS
JUAN CARLOS
RODRIGUEZ
Mexican American Artist-Author-Illustrator
Contemporary impressionist evoking emotion and sparking conversations through color and movement.
Born in Guadalajara, Mexico Juan Carlos and his family immigrated when he was just 3 years old, embarking on a lifelong journey of cultural diversity and exploration. Growing up in the Chicagoland area exposed him to a variety of traditions, celebrations, and way of life all while staying true to his Mexican roots.
Selling his first piece of art in 6th grade Juan Carlos knew very early on that Art was something he needed to do for the rest of his life. His love for connection through art and his faith led him to pursue a degree in Spanish and Art Education at a private catholic institution, and later a focus in Fine Art in Grad school. He studied Art history at the University of Granada, Spain and Abstract painting at the University of Arts, London, UK.
Like many, he was forced to do art on the side in order to have a more traditional career, falling into a ten-year career in Luxury Property Management. A career that ended in the summer of 2023 when he decided to take a leap of faith and become a full-time artist. A change that has led to a thriving emerging artist career with several group shows, two upcoming solo shows, and 4 coloring book publications to date. With the goal to reach both national and international recognition Juan Carlos is just getting started.
